More Baseball News

I bagged studying tonight and went to watch Micah play in a Little League game, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it!

So who is that handsome guy? Why, could it be...yes, it's Micah! His first swing in the of game resulted in a smash triple to left field that drove in 3 runs. Way to go bud!

Of course, Rebekah's got her stake in the action too - she had a softball game this past Saturday and did a fine job as well.

And then of course there's the fans in the stands:

On a final note, Malachi is also having a great time playing 13-14 year old ball back in Billings. As a kid, this is when you know you have arrived...90' between the bases, leadoffs are allowed, the pitchers are starting to throw some heat, and the outfield fence is WAY out there.

Monday night, Malachi cranked another standup double (it probably could have been a triple). But do we have pictures? NOooooo!!!! (*ahem* - aside to the folks in Billings: someone take a digital camera to the game and get us some mug shots... Mom is dying to see her firstborn in all his baseball glory).

That's it for now! Back to the books...

Baseball News

Just a brief update on Cryder baseball news:
  • Malachi (13) smacked a nice standup double last night in a scrimmage back in Billings! (can't tell you how much I wish I was there rather than here right now)
  • Micah (11) has a triple in his game earlier this week! (whaddya know about that! we've got ourselves another ballplayer!)
  • and sweet little Rebekah (9), playing girls softball in her first game ever not only had a hit, but made it all the way to second base!
Way to go kids!!!! :-)

And then tonight we played Aggravation and I whooped 'em all (well, except Malachi, since he's not here). Thanks guys...I needed that!

Sunset - April 15

Sunset, April 15. 2005

I took this picture this evening looking out my window to the west (click on it to see a larger version) - by playing with the shutter speed and then moving the camera while it was taking the picture I was able to get a cool effect. There's some additional thoughts based on this picture in my Eyes to See post over on SLD.

Apples in April

This title has nothing to do with what I am supposed to write about, but it seemed appropriate at the time. Christian wanted me to update everyone on what is happening out here in Philly.

-Malachi has been gone a week and many of you have already seen his tall self. He is back in Billings to play a full season of baseball. Woo hoo! Thanks to all of you who are helping out with our son. We really appreciate it.

-Micah and Rebekah started baseball/softball and it is pretty interesting. I think overall they are enjoying it, so that is good.

-Christian is still hard at work on school. This semester has been even busier than before. We keep thinking that the upcoming one won't be as bad, but they all turn out pretty much the same. It's good stuff, just busy.

-I am still playing my french horn and trying not to say yes to too many opportunities. I am also plugging along trying to get Micah and Rebekah through their school year. Let's see, I think it's 27 days of school left. Not bad, but we need to hustle in order to finish before the end of the semester.

-Christian and I have been working on the application process for the church planting assesment center in Atlanta. It is scheduled for May 23-26th. Please feel free to pray about this for us. It is a big thing to have happen right after the semester is over. It has been likened to a "spiritual proctology exam". Hmmm... I am not looking forward to it, but Christian is, so that's good.

I believe the does it for now. This had nothing to do with apples, but not many words start with a. At least not many my exhausted and fogged mind could remember. We hope this finds all of you well.

Marshall St.

I thought I'd post a picture I took this afternoon of the view looking up our street (to the North). Our house is just off the right side of the picture, about where the van is.

Old Man of Fischer Park

Old Man of Fischer Park
(right down the street from our house in Philly)

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, to bring good news to the poor,
to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives,
the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the year of the Lord's favor,
and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn;
that they may be called Oaks of Righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.
- Isaiah 61:1-3
